JOB DETAILS:
- Location: Dublin or Cork (depending on student preference)
- Onsite: This role requires the student to work full time onsite throughout the duration of the co-op/intern term.
- Duration: January 15th - August 17th 2025
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
We are hiring students across several of our teams including Analog Mixed Signal (AMS), PCI Express and AECG Custom & Strate teams. Student applications will be considered for all groups. Once invited for interview, you'll be informed which team has shortlisted your application.
The Analog Mixed Signal (AMS) team design high performance analog and digital circuits such as ADCs, DACs, references, clocking and multi gigabit transceivers which are integrated into AMD devices. These devices are used in a variety of applications such as automotive, wireless communications and medical imaging. At AMD, the successful candidates will work as part of an IC design team and will have the opportunity to get exposure to the process of analog and mixed signal design, digital design and/or digital functional verification. In particular the candidate will get to the opportunity use best-in-class industry design tools and methodologies and develop new skills in the aforementioned areas.
The PCI Express Team produces cutting-edge, high-speed serial I/O designs for AMDs industry-leading APUs and GPUs. Our PCIe core architecture forms the major part of a larger NBIO subsystem that is deployed globally in AMD and customer products. You will join a team of highly experienced Design and Design Verification engineers who actively contribute to multiple projects. The PCIe team delivers high performance and low power RTL (register-transfer level) circuit designs that are found in the latest game consoles, laptops, PCs, and cloud computing servers. You will be assisting the team to deliver ASIC designs while meeting the demands of fast-paced project schedules. You should be an independent and well-organized problem solver who thrives in a team environment.
The AECG Custom & Strate team at AMD has positions for interns to assist with the development of leading-edge FPGA-based hardware and embedded software platforms for use in data center acceleration applications. The position is for an intern software engineer that will design and implement software solutions for controlling Xilinx FPGAs. Responsibilities shall include specification and development of Embedded Software/RTL Design for use in Linux and standalone products. This will involve working closely with the hardware engineers to design and implement software subsystems to control FPGA hardware solutions. You will be working with the latest FPGA hardware and software technologies from AMD-Xilinx, including Vivado Design Suite, Versal ACAP devices and Alveo data center boards using the Vitis unified software platform.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS ACROSS ALL TEAMS (students should obtain some but not required to have all of the below skills):
- Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters in Electronic, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
- Knowledge of analog and digital electrical circuits and logic design fundamentals
- Competence in at least one mainstream programming language (Python, Java, C, etc. ) or HDL (Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL)
- Familiarity with scripting languages: Python, Tcl, Perl, Unix preferred
- Knowledge of industrial standard devices e.g. Ethernet, PCIe, SPI, I2C, USB, GPIO
- FPGA verification and test, both simulation and on hardware
- Ambition to learn as much as possible about the chip design process in a leading-edge company
BENEFITS:
- Personal & professional development through mentoring and training
