This new Masters programme (M.Phil.) in 'Theology and Social Justice' isn’t just about understanding theology—it’s about applying it to create tangible change in society. Where theology meets justice, hope meets action.
Theology That Meets Society’s Most Pressing Questions
What is the relationship between theology and social justice? How can faith-based communities become forces for change? Does Christianity have anything meaningful to say to today’s housing, climate, and inequality crises?
Starting this autumn, the School of Religion, Theology, and Peace Studies, at Trinity College Dublin is launching the Theology and Social Justice MPhil—the only programme we know of that blends deep theological education with cutting-edge social scientific research skills. Prospective students can engage on a part-time or full-time basis, lectures will be scheduled with the working day in mind, and you can apply to graduate with a Certificate, Diploma, or Masters depending on your context.
What Makes This Programme Unique?
- Theological Rigour Meets Practical Research: Learn how to analyze complex social issues like homelessness and biodiversity loss with both theological insight and the tools of social science.
- Unmatched Breadth: Engage with issues of power, politics, gender, housing, and climate while exploring cutting-edge biblical interpretation and theological critique.
- Career-Ready Skills: Develop expertise in research, policy development, and practical advocacy to pursue careers in church and charity leadership, education, or public service.
