“Peace Talks” event for Peace Studies students on March 27th 2025
Discussion Topic: “Is war an inevitable part of human nature, or can it be completely eradicated?”
This question was selected through a vote by the IPS Cohort, adding a nice element of collective interest and engagement leading up to the event.
We had 18 attendees in total and were joined by a student from the Medieval Studies Department, as well as one of the PhD students, Marie Sender, which brought additional depth and perspective to the conversation.
It was an open and lively space, where we reflected on themes central to our discipline—exploring everything from conceptions of human nature and historical continuity, to current global events, the role of international law, and points of action in current global circumstances for peace scholars.
We’re also especially grateful to Dr Carlo Aldrovandi for his help in organizing the event and it meant a lot to have his support and presence there.
