Roundtable discussion with Trinity COP 28 delegates

This week, delegates from Trinity who participated in the UN Climate Change Conference COP 28 in Dubai met in the Provost's House for a roundtable discussion about their learnings and insights from the event.

Delegates included staff and students who attended the conference, both online and in-person, and were given the opportunity to share their experience and learnings. The meeting was also joined by Jane Stout, Vice-President for Biodiversity and Climate Action; Jane Hackett, Sustainability Manager; Sarah-Jane Cullinane, ESD Fellow Lead; and Patricia Callaghan, Academic Secretary.

Speaking about the meeting, Linda said:

It was great to hear the delegates' insights from the event. We discussed a number of topics, including the importance of looking at the climate crisis from different perspectives and giving voice to those who have been most affected; the need for more collaboration in coming up with sustainable solutions; the role of women in climate decision making; and the role Irish universities can play. It was also impressive to see how students engaged so passionately at the event at a political, economic, and social level.
