About LaunchBox
LaunchBox, Trinity's Student Accelerator, is here to help you start. We want to support you to turn your idea into a real-world business. No matter what you’re studying, no matter how early-stage your idea – LaunchBox wants to hear from you.
Startups that benefitted from LaunchBox
Previous LaunchBox teams have gone on to yield great success, securing funding to take their startups to the next stage of development. Alumni startups from the nine LaunchBox programmes to date have collectively raised more than €150 million since the programme began in 2013, with over 350 jobs created by LaunchBox startups and alumni to date.
Artomatix, founded by Eric Risser, was part of LaunchBox 2013, and in late 2019 was sold for over €60m. Protex AI co-founded in 2021 by LaunchBox 2016 alumni Dan Hobbs, has taken part in Y Combinator, and currently has operations all over the world. X-LITE, a beverage company that took part in LaunchBox 2021, is now stocked in over 400 stores worldwide.
Social enterprise FoodCloud (LaunchBox 2013) has redistributed over 15 million kilograms of food that would otherwise have been wasted. Bounce Insights, an AI-powered market research platform that went through LaunchBox in 2019, raised $ 4.5 million in 2024.
Equine Medirecord (LaunchBox 2017) raised an eight-figure sum via US private equity in 2022. Promotion Rewards, which participated in our 2020 LaunchBox programme, raised almost €1million in pre-seed investment in 2022.
Touchtech Payments, founded by Shekinah Adewumi and Niall Hogan, is a Fintech payment startup that took part in LaunchBox 2014. Touchtech was acquired by Stripe in 2019 for an undisclosed sum.
We could go on. Many of our LaunchBox alumni have done amazing things with their startups, and/or have accelerated their post-university careers exponentially by getting involved in the ecosystem in other ways: working with Frontline Ventures, Enterprise Ireland, Dogpatch Labs, and more. Some have started their own venture funds; some are working in social enterprises that make life better for real people.
We are lucky and grateful to our extremely accomplished alumni for all the time they give back to the next generation of LaunchBoxers through mentorship and advice.

LaunchBox started in the summer of 2013, initiated by Vinny Cahill, the Dean of Research and supported and funded by a syndicate of Trinity Angels to whom we owe a great deal. Today, LaunchBox is a crucial strand of Portal.
