International Conference on Public Transport and Urban Citizenship
-
Date: Friday 21 September 2007 from 9am to 6pm
-
Venue: Edmund Burke Theatre, Arts Building, Trinity College Dublin
The Policy Institute conference on Public Transport and Urban citizenship aimed to contribute to an important public debate about:
- the relationship between public transport and urban design
- making Dublin a more environmentally sustainable city
- allowing citizens to be mobile without owning a car
In addition, it put back on the agenda a proposal to remove non-essential traffic from College Green by transforming the space between Trinity College and the Bank of Ireland into a Continental-style piazza with pavement cafes, allowing Dubliners and visitors to savour the atmosphere of the capital city.
