The project asks how temporal correlations affect our capacity to simulate and observe quantum stochastic processes and how they can be harnessed for thermodynamic and computational tasks. The results will impact the way in which quantum systems are modelled and identify novel ways of putting memory effects to energetic and computational use. The award will fund Binder's research group for four years, strengthening Trinity College Dublin's emerging role as a leading research hub in quantum science.
Prof. Felix Binder awarded an Irish research council starting Laureate grant for his project InfoNat
Felix Binder is the leader of the School of Physics' Quantum Information Theory Group. His IRC project 'Understanding and Harnessing Information Processing in Nature' will investigate fundamental aspects of quantum information processing with a particular focus on the role of memory and thermodynamics.
