Course Structure
The MPhil in Philosophy incorporates both taught and research components and can be taken as a one year full-time, or two-year part time course.
In the one-year full-time course, students take six taught modules, worth 60 ECTS, which work together to form an integrated foundation for cutting-edge contemporary philosophical research.
In addition, students write a dissertation, not exceeding 15,000 words, which must be submitted in August. The research dissertation, which counts for 30 ECTS, is the crux of the MPhil programme with students receiving one-to-one supervisory support from an academic supervisor in the student’s chosen field.
In the two-year part-time course, three modules must be taken each year: two in one semester and one in the other. The dissertation must be written in the second year.
