Student Placement - B.Sc. in Midwifery
For the clinical component you will be based in one of the health service providers (the Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital or the Rotunda Hospital). Part of your course work will be practice placements, consisting of a number of weeks in a variety of clinical settings. These placements will take place in clinical blocks in each of years one, two and three of the programme. During the fourth year of you undertake a 36-week roster of continuous practice placement and during this time you will be a paid health service employee.
Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital Hospital: 22 places. The Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital has provided care for women, mothers and infants in the greater Dublin area and at regional and national levels since 1826.The hospital is almost 200 years old and was the first named women and infants hospital in the country. The hospital’s mission is excellence in the care if women and babies.
The Rotunda Hospital : 22 places. The Rotunda Hospital has provided maternity services to women and their families for hundreds of years. The hospital’s mission is to excel in the delivery of safe, innovative and responsive services for women and their families.
