Biography

Sinead is an Assistant Professor and Lecturer in the School of Nursing & Midwifery Trinity College Dublin. She is a registered General Nurse and a registered Nurse Tutor with 17 years of clinical practice, education and research experience in nursing and health care management. Sinead's background is in Emergency nursing, with extensive experience as a senior staff nurse, clinical nurse manager alongside a practice support role. She completed a Masters in Emergency Nursing in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2013. In addition, she completed a Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Education and is a Registered Nurse Tutor. She was awarded a Fellowship of the Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery in RCSI in 2021. Sinead was also awarded a PhD scholarship in 2021 and is currently undertaking her PhD in Trinity College Dublin. Sinead worked as a project manager and research nurse gaining experience in the management and conduction of large HRB funded and industry funded RCT's in Emergency, Cardiology and Respiratory trials. From there she developed competency in the conduct of ethical research planning and application, participant recruitment and retention strategies as well as a range of data collection methods. Following on from this position, she worked as Nurse Tutor and Program Director in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. As part of her role she developed and directed modules in Surgical Care, Patient Safety, Quality and Risk Management. Sinead was recently appointed as an Assistant Professor in General Nursing in Trinity College Dublin.
