Sexual & Gender Minorities
There is an increasing discourse on the needs and rights of gender and sexual minority communities. The Sexual and Gender Minorities Research Group aims to undertake ethical and robust research that explores the health and wellbeing of LGBTQI+ people, contributes to the knowledge base in this field, and positively impacts on the health outcomes of this population.
The research programme within this theme focuses of three primary areas:
- Explore LGBTQI+ people’s mental health and wellbeing, including identifying determinants of mental health and the prevalence of mental health problems.
- Exploring public attitudes to sexual and gender minorities communities.
- Developing and evaluating strategies to enhance practitioners’ competence to provide care that is inclusive.
