This award was presented by the Discipline of Medical Gerontology last week in recognition of their demonstration of the core values of dedication, compassionate nursing practice and professionalism.
Memory Mangava – Mental Health Nursing student, St Patrick’s Mental Health Services.
Memory was nominated for this award because of her approachability, patient and friendly manner with those in her care, her excellent ability to build strong professional relationships with the team and her willingness to go above and beyond to provide a high standard of care. The second-year students who were on placement with Memory also reported to their Clinical Placement Co-ordinator that Memory was an outstanding role model.
Darren Fitzpatrick – Intellectual Disability Nursing student, Stewarts Care
Darren was nominated for this award because his commitment to inclusion extends beyond his service users - he is also a mentor and role model to his peers. His collaborative spirit and ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams make him a valuable asset to the future of nursing. Darren is an exceptional student who is shaping the future of care for older adults with intellectual disabilities through his research, advocacy, and compassionate practice.
