Associate Vice Provost for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Prof Lorraine Leeson, attended the celebration and praised the School’s proactive leadership on equality within the University and early adoption of inclusive practices over the years.

Dr Carmel Doyle presented information on behalf of the School’s Self-Assessment Team on the work undertaken to date, data analysis, extensive community consultation and the resulting targeted action plan and implementation plans for future progression.
Prof Damien Brennan, Head of School, School of Nursing and Midwifery, said: “We are proud of our Self-Assessment Team composed of staff and students who have championed the Athena Swan Charter Principles within our community and undertaken this important work to make our School a more equal, diverse and inclusive place to study, teach, research and work.”
Dr Carmel Doyle, Associate Professor and member of the Self-Assessment Team said: “Today, we are proud to celebrate a significant milestone—achieving the Athena SWAN Bronze Award. This recognition reflects our commitment to advancing gender equality and fostering an inclusive environment. It is the result of a dedicated self-assessment and a collective effort with our colleagues within the School and across College.”
