Discover the future of urban living at the Smart Cities Urban Quest in Dublin’s Docklands

As part of Science Week 2024, Dublin’s Docklands will host an interactive game exploring the cities of tomorrow.
Hosted by the Smart Docklands programme, a partnership between Dublin City Council and the CONNECTResearch Ireland Centre for Future Networks, this event will take place from November 10th to 17th, with multiple sessions on the 10th, 12th, 14th and 16th.
Dr Karolina Anielska, Project and Engagement Manager from Smart Docklands, said: “Starting at the Innovation Hub in CHQ, the Smart Cities Urban Quest will take participants through a series of fun and engaging activities that showcase the technological innovations driving smarter, more sustainable, and more connected urban spaces.
“I'm thrilled to be organising the Smart Cities Urban Quest and to provide a platform where people of all ages – families, friends, colleagues, and solo adventurers – can dive into the technologies transforming our cities.
"Whether you're a resident, worker, or visitor in the Docklands, this event offers a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the future of city living. Event Highlights Include:
Smart City Scavenger Hunt: Embark on a scavenger hunt to uncover how new technologies are being woven into the urban fabric of Dublin’s Docklands. From IoT devices to drones and digital twins, each clue and puzzle will guide you through the possibilities of a smarter city.
Augmented Reality Experiences and Games: Step into immersive augmented reality zones where the digital and physical worlds converge. Explore how AR brings to life smart city technologies, with experiences that include Big Belly Bins and drone simulations, showcasing how urban planning and innovative waste management are evolving. In addition, try out interactive games with Dublin Bikes and Ring Buoys, offering a fun and hands-on look at how these technologies enhance city navigation and safety.
