Trinity announces changes to historic Charter to enable governance reforms
A Supplemental Charter, which updates the University’s existing charters laying out how the University is governed, was approved by the Trinity Board on 7 October 2022 and was formally recognised by the Government on 15 November 2022. The new Supplemental Charter sets out the composition of Trinity’s Board.

Trinity benefits from legacy of Elan founder Dr Don Panoz
Dr Panoz died in September 2018, aged 83, leaving part of his estate to Trinity. This followed his funding in 1994 of the Panoz Institute, a purpose-built home for the School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences on campus.

Into the woods - a Pocket Forest comes to Trinity
Professor Yvonne Buckley brought more biodiversity to campus last week in the form of a Pocket Forest - a small native forest planted in urban areas. Trinity has been ranked 161st in the world in the latest THE World University Rankings. Provost Linda Doyle said: “There are several different ranking systems for universities and while we remain at 98th in the QS World University Rankings, we have dropped from 146th to 161st in the 2023 THE World University Rankings."

Eleven Trinity researchers to receive Irish Research Council Laureate Awards

Researchers assess benefits of assistance dogs for children with physical disabilities
Researchers from Trinity College Dublin and The Gait Laboratory at the Central Remedial Clinic have teamed up with national charity Dogs for Disabled, based in Cork – and some of their furry friends – to measure the impact of gait training with a dog on walking quality, activity levels and health-related quality of life in ten children with impaired walking ability.

Reduction in brain tissue oxygenation placing older adults with multiple health conditions at risk of faints and falls
Researchers from Mercer’s Institute for Successful Ageing (MISA) and the Department of Medical Physics at St James’s Hospital and Trinity College have discovered that brain tissue oxygenation is lower in frailer older adults with multiple health conditions (multi-morbidity), putting them at risk of faints and falls. Brain oxygenation - the measure of oxygen in brain tissue - reflects the balance between oxygen delivery and consumption and is vital for the maintenance of normal brain function and tissue integrity.
