Welcome to the inaugural cohort of Trinity/Columbia Dual BA students!

Students and their families of the inaugural Trinity and Columbia University Dual BA Programme in the arts and humanities were warmly welcomed to an Orientation Day on campus today.
The new Dual BA Programme is unique in that students will graduate from the two leading universities with two degrees over the course of four years. The inaugural cohort will pursue a rigorous undergraduate education in the areas of the arts and humanities, spanning the two continents.
They will spend their first two years at Trinity, studying one of four areas—English Studies, European Studies, History, or Middle Eastern and European Languages and Cultures. They will then go on to study at Columbia for their final two years, completing a core curriculum and several majors.
During their time in the programme, Dual BA students will be part of two vibrant academic communities with access to abundant extracurricular options on campus and beyond, as well as internship and entrepreneurial opportunities in both Dublin and New York City. In year four, the research project, co-supervised by academics in Trinity and Columbia University, will give students the opportunity to develop their interests.
Introducing the orientation event, Professor Darryl Jones, Dean of Trinity’s Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr Zuleika Rodgers, Programme Director for the Dual BA, and Jessica Sarles-Dinsick, Associate Dean for International Programs and Special Projects at Columbia University outlined how the new students are ‘pioneers’ and that they should celebrate and enjoy the adventure that they are embarking on.
The orientation programme included an overview of the support network available in both universities, followed by a historical tour of the Trinity and an informal pizza night in the Global Room. A class outing to Glendalough, the early medieval monastic site founded in the 6th century in neighbouring Co Wicklow will take place tomorrow.
