Trinity Regatta
Posted on: 02 May 2007
The 104th Trinity Regatta held on 28th April was a truly enjoyable event. Aided by the fantastic weather, it drew the largest crowd seen in recent years.
Highlights of the day included DULBC winning the Women’s Intermediate 8+ race over UCD, and DUBC becoming the Novice champions over Thames Rowing Club (coached by Martin Levy, brother of former Trinity boatman Tim Levy) based in London. Other overseas competitors included Hughes College of Cambridge University.
Following a similar format to previous years, guests dined in the boathouse Long Room and enjoyed the Regatta Tea while watching “fun races” between DU sports clubs during the break in regular racing (champions were the Knights of the Campanile and DU Squash Club).
Guests included the American Ambassador, the Provost and the College Secretary. The clubs were also delighted that Britt and Liam Miller, whose daughter Kat gives the senior DULBC boat its namesake, were in attendance.
After the main events, spectators laid on the bank having picnics while enjoying music provided by The Ratzsingers of the Trinity Jazz Society.
