Trinity College Secondhand Booksale 2007

The Trinity Secondhand Booksale will take place on Thursday 19th April – Saturday 21st April next.. This remarkable three day event which is now in its 18th year goes from strength to strength. With over 30,000 quality books, journals, paperbacks for sale, this is the largest charity booksale in Ireland. As in other years, all books are generously donated by staff, graduates and friends of the College.
The Trinity Sale is characterised not just by sheer quantity but by the wide range of subjects offered. This year is particularly strong on history, Ireland, biography, politics, foreign languages, art history, English literature and natural history. It includes the libraries of several retired staff of Trinity College. Prices are always reasonable and bargains widely available.
Rare books will be auctioned by John deVereWhite on Thursday evening.
Over sixty lots include Brian Merriman’s Midnight Court (1912), several Dolmen Press limited editions, first editions of At Swim-Two -Birds by Flann O’Brien and Fiche Bliain ag Fás by Muiris Ó Súilleabháin, a very rare copy of The Pals at Suvla Bay, being a record of ‘D’Company of the 7th Royal Dublin Fusiliers by Henry Hanna (1916), Luce’s Fishing and Thinking (1959), runs of the journals The Irish Ancestor, Studia Hibernica, and the Bulletin of the Irish Georgian Society, early copies of The Treble Almanack among many other items are available.

This is a charity event run by volunteers. Funds raised by last year’s Booksale were used to buy books, journals, maps and other research materials in Trinity College Library and in the smaller specialist Departmental libraries.
Opening Times: The Trinity Secondhand Booksale will be held in the Examination Hall, Front Square, TCD, starting at 5.30pm on Thursday 19 April.
It will continue on Friday, 20th April from 10.00am to 6.00pm, and on Saturday 21st from 10 am to 2pm.
Entrance Charge: €3.00 on first night. Free on Friday and Saturday.
Restocked Friday: Vast quantities of paperback fiction will be added to the Sale on Friday.
Half Price Saturday: All books will be sold at half the marked price on Saturday.
Clearance auction: Clearance auction at 2.15pm on Saturday, table by table. Everything must go! Lots of incredible bargains!
