Provost delivers mid-term address

Trinity is almost half way through the lifespan of the university’s strategic plan and half way through the Provost’s tenure. The Provost, Dr Patrick Prendergast delivered a mid-term address on Friday October 14th during which he outlined what has been achieved over the past few years, what lessons have been learned, and a review of the challenges ahead and how they can be addressed.

The last few years have been difficult for the country, and for Trinity. Despite all of the pressures, the Provost said that staff have continued to work together for a greater good – the education of our students, and continued excellence in research and scholarship. Unfortunately the funding environment has taken a toll on the university and it is now timely to reassess the direction of higher education in general and Trinity in particular.
