Pharmacy Students Benefit from Technology Sponsorship
Posted on: 23 January 2012
Pharmacy students at Trinity’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences will soon be using 12 state-of-the-art high specification computers to aid their learning of drug dispensing and other pharmacy management practices. The new technology, sponsored by McLernon’s Computers Ltd, includes MPS dispensary management system software and an EPOS till system, which will ensure that the technology taught in the classroom accurately reflects the systems currently used in industry.
The new computers will be used in practical classes for the practice of pharmacy and will be available to pharmacy students in all years of the degree programme. These resources will also facilitate the delivery of practical classes at postgraduate level. The high specification computers will complement the state-of-the-art pharmacy teaching facility, the ‘Boots Practice of Pharmacy Teaching and Development Unit’, which was opened by the Minister for Health and Children, Mary Harney, in June 2010. McLernon’s will continue to support both the computer hardware and software systems for the next five years allowing Trinity provide the most up-to-date training to pharmacists of the future.
Professor Marek Radomski, Head of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences said: “The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Trinity College Dublin is delighted with McLernons donation of the MPS systems. The systems are indispensable for state-of-the-art teaching of pharmacy students in our school and will enrich their educational experience. The School is grateful for this generous donation and the continued support for our programme.”
