Posted on: 02 January 2007
A Mitchell Scholarship has been awarded to the Harvard College student, Scot Miller, to study in Trinity College Dublin. The Harvard student was one of 12 American recipients of the 2007-08 George J Mitchell Scholarship.
Launched in 1998 and administered by the US-Ireland Alliance, the Mitchell Scholarship programme recognises outstanding young Americans who exhibit the highest standards of academic excellence, leadership and community service. Named after the former US Senator who spearheaded the Good Friday Agreement, the scholarships are awarded annually to 12 Americans under the age of 30 to pursue a year of postgraduate study at any university in Ireland or Northern Ireland.
The Mitchell Scholarship will support Scot’s work in environmental studies at Trinity College. Miller is both a Truman Scholar and Morris Udall Scholar and he was also awarded the Campus Ecology Fellowship in 2006 by the National Wildlife Federation in recognition of his contribution to the environment at Harvard College.
