Gold Standard hat-trick for Trinity Sport
Posted on: 07 December 2016
Trinity Sport has won Gold at this year’s White Flag National Quality Standard awards, the most sought-after accolade in the leisure and fitness industry.
This is the third successive year that Trinity Sport has won Gold, which recognises standards of excellence across a range of areas.
The White Flag National Standard is the only quality award and measurement of standards for gyms, swimming pools and leisure amenities throughout Ireland, and winners are chosen following a comprehensive audit of their premises.
Speaking afterwards, Head of Sport and Recreation Michelle Tanner commented: “It is a great honour that Trinity Sport have been successfully awarded the nationally recognised Gold standard White Flag for the third consecutive year and to receive the title of Leisure Centre of the Year is an endorsement of the great effort by the team. Despite economic constraints and mounting work and study pressures, the staff and students involved in Trinity Sport have shown boundless energy, passion and commitment in representing Trinity Sport at so many different levels.”
“In particular our operations team have been the main drivers of this award, along with the support and assistance of other areas such Estates and Facilities. I commend them all for their hard work and dedication. We work as team and we achieve success together.”
The White Flag National Quality Standard grades facilities’ operational standards, similar to the Blue Flag award which classifies Ireland’s beaches. It is the only industry-specific award for the Irish leisure and fitness sector and this year saw over 100 entrants for the awards.
Prizes are awarded based on the four essential areas when operating any leisure or fitness centre: safety, hygiene, customer engagement and HR. The standard is designed to encourage continuous improvement and it is categorised into three levels: gold, silver and bronze.
Trinity Sport Duty Managers Niamh Rudden and Orla O’Brien, along with Operations Manager Jonathan Fitzpatrick, collected the award at an event in the Hodson Bay Hotel.
