Creative Challenge to showcase new, ambitious, and innovative works of art

Trinity’s Creative Challenge returns this week with five new innovative projects to be showcased across the University campus.

Genomic Gastronomy will kick off Trinity’s Creative Challenge with an exhibition of their tools, methods and findings in the Long Room Hub Thursday, April 5th. Other projects to be unveiled in the coming weeks include, a series of musical performances in the Edmund Burke Theatre as well as several large-scale drawings to be placed at iconic locations across Dublin.

The five winning projects were created by the following artists:

Clare Lymer – Continuance is an installation of video works exploring the experience of patients who suffer with tuberculosis.

Genomic Gastronomy – The Race Endophyte Collectors Club, a hobbyist-led research initiative created by the artist group The Centre for Genomic Gastronomy, will be displaying their tools, methods and findings in the Long Room Hub in Trinity

The Music of Silence: Its interpretation and performance – A series of musical performances and presentations that try to answer the question, can silence be musical?

Details: The Music of Silence 1.30pm – 8pm Tuesday, April 11th and 2.30pm – 8pm on Wednesday, April 12th, Edmund Burke Theatre, Trinity College Dublin.

Professor Adrian Tien and Professor Duckworth

Joe Caslin presents an art project in which several temporary large-scale drawings will be installed on iconic sites within Dublin with the aim to highlight issues such as drug addiction, mental wellbeing and direct provision.

Dead Centre presents Beckett’s First Play, a performance, with a twist, which focuses on the story behind the writing of Beckett’s first play, Eleutheria.

The Trinity Creative Challenge is a key initiative of Trinity Creative sponsored by the Provost of the University, Dr Patrick Prendergast.

The aim of the scheme is to support innovative interdisciplinary projects with Trinity College Dublin. Five proposals were selected to share the award of €40,000 with the final completed projects all due to presented in the coming weeks.
