Celebration of Language and Culture in the Heart of the City – Éigse na Tríonóide 2020 begins today

Éigse na Tríonóide, Trinity College Dublin’s annual Irish language festival, begins today and runs until Friday 14th February 2020.
The festival, organised by the Students’ Union, student society An Cumann Gaelach and the university’s Irish Language Office, celebrates Irish language and culture by holding a wide range of events over the course of the week and welcomes both students and the general public to Trinity’s city centre campus.
The main events include Gairmeacha le Gaeilge, an information session for students on Irish language careers, special guest speakers at the Éigselaunch, a night of poetry and music with Cúirt Éigse in association with REIC, an art tour in which various art pieces on campus will be presented, and a gathering of Irish language third level societies at the Societies’ Show.
The guest speakers who will be present at the festival launch on Monday 10thFebruary at 6.30pm in Seomra naGaeilge are as follows:
- JamieÓ Tuama (the GAA’s first Irish DevelopmentOfficer)
- Wúrà?lá Máj??kódùnmí (broadcasterwithRaidió na Life and Motherfoclóircontributor)
- Clíodhna Ní Dhufaigh (Vice-President for Irish with The Union of Students in Ireland)
- Malachi Ó Marcaigh (Irish Editor with University Times).
All events are free of charge and open to all.
