Astrophysicists to bring Mercury Transit to Irish public

Posted on: 08 November 2019

Astrophysicists from Trinity invite the public to observe the Mercury Transit when the smallest planet in our solar system, Mercury, becomes visible as it moves across the face of the Sun on Monday 11th November 2019 (12:40 pm to 3:30 pm).

A high-power telescope will offer the chance to observe the transit live, while a large screen TV will also display real-time observations from other locations around the world.

The astrophysicists will be on hand to organise viewings through the telescope, answer questions, and discuss their current cosmological research.

This is a free event and everyone is welcome, but please note kinder weather will greatly improve the chance of witnessing the Transit in all its glory.
