Four Trinity scientists named on Highly Citied Researchers list for 2024

A Highly Cited Researcher is an individual who has demonstrated significant and broad influence in their field(s) of research. 

This small fraction of the researcher population contributes disproportionately to extending the frontiers of knowledge and contributing to innovations that make the world healthier, more sustainable and drive societal impact. 

The rigorous evaluation and selection process draws on data from the Web of Science Core Collection™ citation index, together with qualitative analysis performed by experts at the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI)™ at Clarivate. A new list is determined by the ISI team each year.

Each researcher selected has authored multiple Highly Cited Papers™ which rank in the top 1% by citations for their field(s) and publication year in the Web of Science Core Collection over the past decade.

 The four researchers from Trinity are:

• Dr Viet Pham, Assistant Professor, School of Computer Science.
• Professor Valeria Nicolosi, School of Chemistry.
• Professor Jonathan Coleman, Chemical Physics, School of Physics
• Professor Luke O’Neill, School of Biochemistry and Immunology.

Professor O’Neill appears as one of the world’s most cited researchers in two separate categories; immunology and molecular biology/genetics.

Professor Sinead Ryan, Dean of Research at Trinity, said:
