New Cereal for GI Health

- Description:

Bioactive phytochemical extracts from a common dietary grain have the potential to be developed as nutraceuticals for the treatment of intestinal inflammation. In this collaboration between the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), NatPro and industry, extracts that contain plant bioactives from cereal have been generated and their chemical fingerprints identified. Subsequently those are tested for anti-inflammatory activity in the gut.
This project is funded by the Irish Research Council's Enterprise Partnership Scheme and Glanbia Ireland.
