- ALU/Bell Lab Ireland (female applicants only)
- IMEC, Belgium
IMEC performs world-leading research in nano-electronics and nano-technology, partnered with many universities and with several major semiconductor and microelectronics manufacturers. This is coordinated through Dr. Zsolt Tokei. Past supervisors have included Yohan Barbarin, Yong Kong Siew, Christopher J. Wilson, Joeri deVos, Jean-Francois de Marneffe and Patrick Verdonck among many others. These projects have explored topics such as low-k dielectrics, high-k dielectrics, interconnects, failure modes within integrated circuits, defects and semiconductor processing techniques, as well as new patterning or lithographic techniques.

- Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitaet Muenchen, "Metal and Semiconductor based Nanomaterials" with Dr. Andrey Rogach, Photonics and Optoelectronics Group. (not ERASMUS)
- The University of Waikato, New Zealand, with the group of Rob Torrens.
- Imperial College London, in the nanostructured hierarchical assemblies and composites group of Milo Shaffer. This was a one-off placement.
- Imperial College London, in the nanotoxicology group of Alexandra Porter. This was a one-off placement.
- The National Institute of Materials Sciences, Tsukuba, Japan within the group of Enrico Traversa studying solid oxide fuel cells. This was through a previous Japanese exchange agreement which lapsed after the tsunami.
- 2012, Colorado School of Mines, specifically the Renewable Energy Materials Research Science and Engineering Center, where the group of Colin Wolden hosted a student working on diagnostics of pulsed PECVD. This was a one-off placement but the hosts would be open to another student placement.
- 2012, Boston University, under the direction of Richard Averitt on THZ spectroscopy of highly correlated materials. This was a one-off student placement and may not be repeated.
