Biography

Dr. Dónal Wallace is an Assistant Professor in General Practice at Trinity College Dublin (TCD). He also practices as a GP in North Dublin. He qualified in Medicine from TCD in 2013 with an Honours Degree and was accepted onto the TCD GP training scheme in July 2014, completing his specialist training in July 2018. He has a very keen interest in medical education and has been involved with teaching medical students since he was an Intern. Dónal has been awarded Diplomas in Clinical Psychiatry (DCP), Medicine for the Elderly (DME), Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRCOG) and Musculoskeletal Examination & Injury Management (ICGP Dip MSK). His research interests centre on youth mental health, medical education, CME small group learning and public & patient involvement in research. Dónal has written regularly for Forum: Journal of the Irish College of General Practitioners and is an active member of his CME group in North Dublin. He has first hand experience in managing adolescent mental health presentations at primary care level. Dónal's current research programme is focusing on the development and evaluation of a CME educational tool designed to equip GPs in Ireland to manage adolescent mental health presentations.
