Preclinical Projects
Alongside the clinical trials, our group is interested in understanding the molecular, cellular, and neuronal mechanisms of Psychedelics.
Neuroplasticity and Immune modulatory properties of psychedelics
A preclinical study using an animal model of depression enables us to understand the finer details of the molecular, cellular, and neuronal mechanisms underlying the therapeutic potential of psychedelics. Research compounds were obtained from the NIDA Drug Supply Program. This project will use a wide range of techniques such as functional magnetic resonance imaging, behavioural tests, and brain staining in these animal models. This project has been approved by the Animal Research Ethics Board.
