Nickola is a HRB funded final year PhD scholar on the SPHeRE programme in population health, policy and health-services research. As part of her doctoral research, Nickola is examining how to improve the implementation of self-management support in cancer survivorship care. She was a visiting researcher at the Health Services Research and Implementation Science department in the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Australia in 2023. She is also a recipient of the International Behavioural Trails Network (IBTN) summer school (2022), the National Cancer Institute Multilevel Intervention Training Institute (MLTI) (2022), and the Irish Implementation Science Training Institute (2022).

Therapeutic Radiography programmes. Prior to this she worked in acute oncology services in Ireland and the UK. In 2017 she was awarded a Cancer Research UK pre-doctoral fellowship where she was based in the Department of Behavioural Science and Health in University College London. This research investigated the barriers and enablers among radiographers in delivering health behaviour advice to those living with and beyond cancer. During this fellowship, she was also awarded a College of Radiographers Industrial Partnership Scheme Grant to explore radiographers’ experiences of e-learning as a strategy to support delivery of brief health behaviour advice to cancer patients. Nickola’s research interests include self-management support, cancer survivorship and implementation science.
