Biography

Lauren is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy with the Discipline of Occupational Therapy. Lauren is also a Senior Occupational Therapist and Lecturer in St Francis Hospice Dublin. This role involves working with individuals with a life-limiting or terminal illness, to maintain their independence in everyday activities and promote quality of life. Lauren also assists with teaching and facilitating courses for staff, healthcare professionals and the wider community. Lauren is a Lecturer on the Masters in Palliative Care post-graduate programme delivered in conjunction with the Discipline of Nursing and Midwifery. Lauren completed her PhD in Occupational Therapy with Trinity College Dublin and St James' Hospital, in 2018. Her research focused on the evaluation of a self-management intervention for cancer survivors. Lauren's research interests include self-management of chronic and life-limiting conditions, symptom management in oncology and palliative care and technology in palliative care and education. Lauren assisted with academic teaching within the Occupational Therapy Department in TCD. Lauren has presented her research nationally and internationally. Her research has been published in journals such as the British Journal of Occupational Therapy and Supportive Care in Cancer. Lauren served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Irish Association of Palliative Care. She is also a member of the Association of Occupational Therapists in Ireland is registered with CORU.
