Support exchange between patients and family caregivers in palliative care

Patients in palliative care are usually conceptualised as recipients of care and support from their family caregivers. However, the caring relationship between people with life-limiting illness and their family caregivers can be bidirectional. This study investigates processes of mutual support between patients with advanced illness in palliative care and their family caregivers and explains how mutual support between patients and family caregivers impacts on their decision-making for palliative care.
