Dr. Florian Sennlaub (Institut de la Vision, Paris) will be giving a research seminar entitled
"How Genetic Risk Variants Drive Pathogenic Inflammation in Age-Related Macular Degeneration—A Path to Immune Restoration" this coming Friday at 11am in LB11 in the Lloyd building.
Date: Friday Jan 10th at 11am
Venue: LB11 lecture theatre, TCIN, Lloyd building
Dr. Florian Sennlaub earned his medical degree in Germany, followed by doctoral training and a Ph.D. in Paris, and completed his postdoctoral training in Montréal. In 2005, he joined INSERM and has led a research team at the Vision Institute in Paris since 2008. His laboratory investigates the role of innate immunity in retinal diseases, especially in age-related macular degeneration (AMD). His research has revealed how genetic AMD-risk variants influence innate immune cells, disrupt subretinal immune suppression, and hinder the resolution of inflammation. Collectively, his findings highlight the impact of these risk variants on inflammation in AMD, suggesting new therapeutic strategies to prevent pathogenic, non-resolving MP accumulation in AMD.
