SAFE-N-MEDTECH – Apr 2019 – Sep 2023
Project Details: Safety Testing in the Life Cycle of Nanotechnology - Enabled Medical Technologies for Health
Specific challenge: Nanotechnology is increasingly being utilised for the development of medical devices. As with all technological innovations that find applications in the healthcare sector, there is a need for careful assessment of potential risks and benefits.
Scope: The EU-funded SAFE-N-MEDTECH project will develop an open access platform to provide the knowhow, networks and services required for the development of nanotechnology-based medical and diagnostic devices.
Expected Impact: The SAFE-N-MEDTECH platform will be directed to companies and laboratories and offer an integrated approach for assessing qualification, regulation, biocompatibility and the properties of nanomaterials. Implementation of the platform will expedite the transition of nanotechnology-based medical technologies to the market.
