Project title: An investigation of how the role of the family influences the health of the school-aged child from a disadvantaged area. Ms Eleanor Hollywood, PhD candidate with Professor Catherine Comiskey

Eleanor Hollywood RGN, RCN, RNT, BSc, MSc, MA is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin. Eleanor's research and teaching is primarily in the area of child health and wellbeing. She teaches nursing students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and is module leader for modules NU1CO1, NU2CO8 and NU7911. Eleanor is currently completing her PhD research which is in the area of child and family health and wellbeing. The title of Eleanor’s PhD study is ‘Aiding and assisting healthcare policy for school children: An investigation of how the role of the family influences the health of the school-aged child from a disadvantaged area’. Utilising a case study design Eleanor’s PhD study focuses on how the family maintains health and wellbeing with the child and family at the very heart of the research study. The study provides a unique perspective of the family and the influences of generations on child and family health and wellbeing because the study sample comprised of children, their parents and their grandparents. It is anticipated that findings will help to inform the development of health interventions that will maximise child and family health and wellbeing.
