The Centre for Health Policy and Management is currently recruiting a Research Fellow to fill the role of Assistant Director for Teaching & Learning on the HRB funded SPHeRE Programme. The SPHeRE (Structured Population health, Policy and Health-services Research Education) Programme is an innovative and ambitious research programme in population health, policy and health services research (PHPHSR) funded by the Health Research Board (HRB) since 2013. 

The Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning works on the development of the taught component of the programme, particularly in its ‘year one’ phase. This includes continuous academic review, monitoring progress on eLearning and playing a vital role in the development of a peer-learning culture across the programme. The role also requires contributing to teaching and co-supervision. Since 2022 the SPHeRE taught programme has been undergoing a strategic curriculum review for which the Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning plays a central role.

A new children’s palliative care project, based at the Centre for Health Policy & Management, is looking to recruit a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow for 2 years.
The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team focused on generating crucial evidence needed to inform and improve how children’s palliative care is delivered in Ireland.
This exciting new collaboration includes children’s palliative care providers, PPI partners, policymakers, palliative care researchers and other key stakeholders providing an excellent opportunity to work together on core information gaps in children’s palliative care and to engage with international researchers in this field.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and experienced researcher with a proven record in qualitative consensus building processes, experience in managing quantitative data, conducting literature reviews and publication writing and dissemination.

They will also have a good record in postgraduate teaching and supervision and in translating high quality research into policy at the national level. The Foundations’ project, based in the Centre for Health Policy and Management in Trinity College Dublin is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic researcher in health systems and policy analysis for a ten-month position. The successful applicant will join a research group active in health systems and policy research in Ireland and internationally and specifically will be working on the Health Research Board Applied Partnership Award project entitled ‘Health system foundations for Sláintecare implementation in 2020 and beyond’. The post offers exposure to multiple key aspects of health systems and policy research under expert supervision and is a strong practical grounding for a career in this field. Funding is available for ten months and may lead to other opportunities in health systems and policy research. This role will involve working closely with the project lead (Dr Sara Burke) and academic team, the project partners (the Sláintecare Implementation Office and the HSE) carrying out key research functions including literature reviews (rapid reviews), data collection, critical appraisal and evidence synthesis, carrying out case studies and health systems and policy analysis. Excellent research skills as well as good knowledge translation skills are required.

Candidates must hold a post-graduate qualification in a relevant field. The ideal candidate will be a skilled post-graduate researcher and or hold a doctorate, with experience in applied health systems and policy research.

he Centre for Health Policy and Management are delighted to announce an exciting opportunity to be part of an international research team.  The RESTORE project (Towards Dynamic Resilience in Health System Performance and Reform) under the leadership of Prof Steve Thomas, Trinity College Dublin is exploring the tensions between shocks, health system resilience and the achievement of health reform. It is a five year Research Leader Award funded by the HRB starting November 2020.

We are looking to fill the following posts:

Post-doc Researcher
This is a full-time five year post for an experienced researcher in health policy and systems. The appropriate candidate will have excellent qualitative analysis and writing skills with a track record of peer-reviewed publications. Their main technical area of contribution will be realist reviews and qualitative analysis associated with interviews of policy makers and analysis of policy documents.

Researcher
This is a full-time four year post for a skilled quantitative researcher. The candidate will have a good Masters degree with evidence of good statistical and quantitative analysis skills. They will initially be responsible for the quantitative data collection, synthesis and analysis with the PI in relation to health system resilience. Appointments will be made on the IUA researcher salary scales at a point in line with government pay policy.
