Emma began her studies in Trinity College Dublin in 2004 where she entered into the Engineering with Management degree programme. In her final year of her degree her choice of subjects included bioengineering, materials and advanced manufacturing. Her final year project investigated the prediction of notch-based fracture and fatigue in bone defects.
After graduating with a First Class Honours degree, Emma joined the Manufacturing Research group in Trinity College where she is now a 3rd year PhD student. Her main area of research focuses on the development of a process monitoring system for the abrasive machining of biomedical implants, and is funded by both IRCSET and a leading manufacturer in biomedical implants – DePuy Ireland, Johnson & Johnson.
