Ad Theologiam Promovendam: The tasks of theology in Europe today
From 20th to 23rd August 2025 the Loyola Institute, Trinity College Dublin, will host the International Congress of the European Society of Catholic Theology (ESCT).
The discussion of these days will address the relevance of theology as academic discipline, and will explore how theology might better translate its understanding and its wisdom for contemporary discussion in politics, society, and church. Furthermore, in response to Pope Francis’ invitation in ad theologiam promovendum and the recent final document of the Synod on Synodality, the congress will take into account the important challenge of the theological formation of the People of God. The particular focus will be the European context.
