COVID-19 Law and Human Rights Observatory
About the Observatory
COVID-19 presented an unprecedented public health crisis. New laws were introduced at a rapid pace on the basis of compelling public health and economic concerns. Many of the laws infringed on our most fundamental values, while some impacted most harshly on disadvantaged groups.
From April 2020 to November 2021, the COVID-19 Law and Human Rights Observatory engaged in research across the full range of Ireland’s legal response to COVID-19, in order both to inform the public and to provoke public debate.
The Observatory’s work has now ceased, but the research undertaken remains relevant. Through the pages linked here, you can access the reports, blogposts, consolidated regulations and podcasts published by the Observatory.
The work of the Observatory was supported by the Trinity College Dublin COVID Response Fund.
