Dr. Burns was nominated by the Irish Womens Lawyers Association to run for election. The NWC is the leading national representative organisation for women and womens groups in Ireland. A non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation, founded in 1973, it represents over 180 member groups from across a diversity of backgrounds, sectors and geographical locations.
