Mary McAleese is announced Chancellor of Trinity College Dublin
Former President of Ireland and Reid Professor of Criminal Law, Criminology and Penology - Mary McAleese is announced Chancellor of Trinity College Dublin.
Former President of Ireland and colleague of the School of Law, Professor Mary McAleese was recently announced as the next Chancellor of Trinity College Dublin. Prof. McAleese was the youngest appointed Reid Chair of Criminal Law, Criminology and Penology at Trinity College Dublin. First appointed in 1975, Prof. McAleese took a brief break in 1979 before resuming the post until 1987. During her time in Trinity, Prof. McAleese became one of the leading campaigners for homosexual law reform. She continues to champion equality issues. The current Reid Professor, Professor Ivana Bacik was one of many to nominate her to the role of Chancellor. The inauguration is expected to take place later in the academic year.
