Company Law Essay Competition
Congratulations to our student's who participated in the McCannFitzgerald Company Law Essay Competition.
Congratulations to students Diarmuid O'Leary and Caoimhe Landy on their Company Law essays which received first and second prize in the McCannFitzgerald Company Law Essay Competition.
The essay title was as follows:
‘It matters not that the plaintiff had control or the capacity to control the [company’s] activities … for the principle that a corporation is a legal entity distinct from the corporators applies with equal force to a company which is a ‘one person’ company.’- Shedlezki v Bronte Bakery Pty Ltd [2004] 217 CLR 424.
- Discuss the above quotation, with particular reference to closely-held companies.
- Critically analyse whether the Irish Courts and Irish Legislature have adopted ‘control of the company’s activities’ as the primary justification for disregarding separate legal personality.
First prize consisted of a day in McCannFitzgerald, a Certificate acknowledging the prize and McCannFitzgerald merchandise.
Congratulations to both Diarmuid and Caoimhe.
