IRC Legacy Awards: Celebrating the School’s Successes
The IRC Legacy Awards celebrate the very best of IRC-funded researchers deemed to have made highly significant and valuable contributions to knowledge, society, culture and innovation. We are delighted to announce two members of the School of Law received awards.
Eda Sagarra Medal of Excellence: Daniel Gilligan
Daniel Gilligan, our recently appointed Assistant Professor in Private Law was was awarded the Eda Sagarra Medal of Excellence for being the top-ranked postgraduate researcher in the AHSS category, whose project examines Private Wrongs and Constitutional Order: A Theory of Constitutional Horizontality.
Commenting on the successes of Trinity researchers in the awards Dr Linda Doyle, Provost and President of Trinity College Dublin said:
"I also want to congratulate Daniel Gilligan who has won the Eda Sagarra Medal of Excellence. Eda Sagarra is a Fellow Emeritus here in Trinity and it is marvellous to see her name associated with this award and to see Daniel receiving it now for postgraduate scholarship in our School of Law."
Research Allies Prize: Prof Deirdre Ahern
Research Ally prizes were made to mark the crucial role played by higher education personnel in supporting the academic research community across all career levels. Postgraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, academic and research-active staff were invited to nominate the mentors, supervisors, research officers and technical support staff who have supported their work and careers and improved the Irish research ecosystem. The 2024 awards saw 67 Research Allies recognised by for their contribution to supporting research in Ireland.
