Book Launch of Catholic Social Teaching and Labour Law
Author: Professor Mark Bell
Date of Event: | Thursday, 21 March 2024 |
Time: | 5:30pm - 7:00pm |
Venue: | Trinity Long Room Hub, Fellows Square, Trinity College Dublin |
This event is a panel discussion of Mark Bell's recently published book, Catholic Social Teaching and Labour Law: An Ethical Perspective on Work (OUP). How can decent jobs and fair conditions be secured in the midst of deep-seated changes to work? A common response is to explore changes to laws on the rights of workers. Such reforms are ultimately guided by our vision of what we aspire to find in working life. In searching for an orientation on the future of human work, religion is one source of ethical reflection.
It will be chaired by Professor Gerry Whyte (School of Law, Trinity) and include contributions from Professor Lucy Vickers (Oxford Brookes University), Professor Linda Hogan (School of Religion, Theology and Peace Studies, Trinity), and Dr Kevin Hargaden (Director, Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice).
Refreshments will be available from 5.00pm and the panel discussion will start at 5.30pm.
