CONCERTOn the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day, 27th January 2021, the 76th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, the Herzog Centre, Trinity College Dublin, in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture and Holocaust Awareness Ireland announce the launch of the Long Live Life! Concert. Produced by the Fondazione Istituto di Letteratura Musicale Concentrazionaria and INTERGEA, the concert is available for a week from 27th January.

Dr Peter Arnds is currently in India where he recently discussed the limits of animality/humanity at the interdisciplinary talkshow Syntalk in Mumbai. As an expert in the study of dehumanizing metaphors in literature he is joined by the renowned mythologist Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik and the philosopher Dr. Prasenjit Biswar. Peter will travel on to Surat and Lucknow where he will give keynote lectures at conferences on the precarity of cities and the Global South.Dr Peter Arnds

Jürgen Barkhoff, Professor of German (1776) in the School, recently gave a public lecture at Columbia University on his current research project. The lecture was entitled 'Life Writing against Cultural Trauma. The 'special case' of Switzerland and Swiss writer Thomas Hürlimann'. Professor Barkhoff spent a month at the SoF-Heyman Centre for the Humanities, a sister institute to the Trinity Long Room Hub Arts and Humanities Research Institute. He was the first fellow from Trinity College in a new annual Fellowship exchange between the two institutes. The Hub-Heyman Fellows are part of the wider relationship with Columbia University, which saw the first intake into the new Dual Degree programme this September both on the Trinity and the Columbia campus, and seek to develop research collaboration.Prof Jürgen Barkhoff
