The Student Wi-Fi (TCDconnect) registration service has continued to work normally for since 14th September.

We currently have over 19,000 users registered with over 27,000 devices. This is our highest ever number of registered users.

Standard service monitoring to resume.

A further server reboot at 12:20 has resulted in improved speeds for the Student Wi-Fi (TCDconnect) registration service. We will continue to monitor the service performance throughout the day.

Wireless users that are already registered and connected to the Student Wi-Fi network are not affected by these issues. The problem only affects those who need to connect a new device to the network.

The TCDconnect registration service has been re-started at 11:45 and we are currently seeing no improvement to the service at this time.

Work is ongoing to fix the underlying issue.

The Student Wi-Fi (TCDconnect) registration service has been working as normal from 16:25 today and a large number of new registrations have been completed.

The Student Wi-Fi (TCDconnect) registration service is operating normally this morning.

We will continue to monitor the service throughout the day.

Wireless users that were already registered and connected to the Student Wi-Fi network were not affected by yesterday's issues. Over 5000 students were concurrently using the network yesterday.

Work with the third-party provider has continued throughout the afternoon and a change made at 16:45 has had a positive impact in restoring normal service for device registration on to the Student Wi-Fi (TCDconnect) service.

The service will be actively monitored in the coming days.

Further to issues experienced today with slow registration of new devices on the Student Wi-Fi (TCDconnect) service, the service third-party supplier has recommended a restart of the system to resolve the problem.

This is scheduled to take place between 16:00 – 16:15 today (12/09/22). The registration system will be unavailable to process new device registrations or new connections during the restart period.

Wireless users that are already registered and connected to the Student Wi-Fi network will not be affected by this change.

A status update will be posted following the work.

Since approximately 10:00 on the 12th of September 2022, we have received reports of students unable to complete the steps to register their device for the Student Wi-Fi (TCDconnect) service - due to the device registration page not loading.

This is likely due to the high demand today with many students returning to campus.

IT Services are working with our third-party suppliers to restore the service to normal operation and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.
