Cyber-attacks and data breaches are increasingly affecting all sectors, including Higher Education. The rise in sophisticated ransomware, malware, phishing and other cyber threats presents significant challenges and risk of disruption for Trinity.
However, you are our first line of defence. As you access files, send and receive emails and use computers and software in your daily work your actions play a crucial role in safeguarding the University's data and systems from cyber-attacks.
Maintaining GDPR compliance and ensuring robust data security are critical priorities for Trinity and essential for all members of our community. To support this shared responsibility and our obligations, we have developed new Data Protection and Cyber Security training modules for staff who handle data as part of their roles or have a Trinity computer account.
The new Data Protection and Cyber Security training
This training is a mandatory requirement for all staff under GDPR legislation to ensure that University-controlled data is processed securely and in compliance with the law.
The modules take approximately 90 minutes and can be completed in more than one session. Each module includes an assessment that requires a minimum pass mark of 80%. Upon completion, you will receive confirmation of your results. Relevant personal data will be securely retained and processed in accordance with data protection law.
We kindly request that all staff complete the training by no later than 28 February 2025. Thank you for your support in helping us meet our obligations under GDPR legislation.
