These works do not involve any planned loss of service or downtime but for the duration of the works some services will be running, for a short period, “at risk”.  An “at risk” time period is when services have a higher risk of failing and being temporarily unavailable.

Further information, including the actual dates and times, of this upcoming work will be added below, and this information will continue to be updated over the summer.

Types of works

Annual High Availability Testing

We will, once gain, complete high availability testing across our infrastructure.  These tests give us confidence that, in the event of an unplanned server or data centre failure, our services will continue uninterrupted and remain available to you. 

Upgrades

We will enhance and upgrade much of the central infrastructure such as our servers' operating systems, VPN, Load-Balancers, IPAM, Wireless and Data Centre systems.

New Infrastructure

As part of the Digital Trinity Infrastructure (DTI) Programme, the commissioning phase of our Next-Gen Data Protection & Cyber Readiness Solution will commence in June 2024. This new cyber readiness model is a collaborative effort supported by Trinity subject matter experts in IT Services and our technology partners. The project is currently in the execution phase, with the infrastructure installation completed in April 2024. The commissioning phase is scheduled to begin shortly, with a go-live date planned for late July 2024. This commissioning work will have no impact on end user services and is not listed below.

The Distributed Cloud Web Application Firewall (WAF) project is now in the execution phase. This WAF will be deployed to protect all Trinity web-facing services that use Trinity IP addressing and are hosted on the on-premises network.

Further new infrastructure will include additional Firewall capacity, in particular to meet the expected increased demand for high-speed internet connectivity from the Student Wi-Fi networks.
