These works do not involve any planned loss of service or downtime but for the duration of the works some services will be running, for a short period, “at risk”.  An “at risk” time period is when services have a higher risk of failing and being temporarily unavailable.

Further information, including the actual dates and times, of this upcoming work will be added below, and this information will continue to be updated over the summer.

Types of works

Annual High Availability Testing

We will, once again, complete high availability testing across our infrastructure.  These tests give us confidence that, in the event of an unplanned server or data centre failure, our services will continue uninterrupted and remain available to you. 

Upgrades

We will patch and update our servers’ operating systems, including VPN, Exchange and SMTP servers. 

New Infrastructure

New Infrastructure will include the replacement of the IPAM (IP address management System) as well as a new RADIUS infrastructure (used for wireless authentication).

Trinity’s backup infrastructure is also coming to the end of its service life and replacement hardware will be procured and installed in the coming months.
 
Finally, a network tender, to put in place a framework of technologies to draw down over the coming years, is due to be published by September '23. Key network components that will be replaced over the coming 12 months will include core, border routes and distribution switches.
